Polaroid & Instax

For me, Polaroid has never been simply an instant photograph, but a living, fragile and unpredictable material with which to engage. From the very beginning of my artistic research, I have felt the need to move beyond the image as a mere record of reality, instead seeking a language capable of transforming itself, embracing chance and the intervention of the hand.
Working with Polaroid materials means moving through a territory suspended between photography and painting. Manipulating emulsions, scratching surfaces, intervening during development, or allowing time to act upon the image are all part of a creative process in which error, transformation and even deterioration become expressive elements.
I have never considered photography to be something definitive or still. For me, images live, change, grow old and accumulate memory, just as people and places do. In this ongoing dialogue with photographic matter, I find a sense of freedom that continues to accompany me today.
