BESTIARIUM Creatures that wanted to exist
A lake, a moonless night, two creatures emerging from the water without anyone seeing them arrive. From this suspended moment, born Bestiarium, a photographic and narrative bestiary that tells the stories of twenty-five half-human, half-animal beings, each forever captured in an original cyanotype and in a short tale that reveals their true nature. The silent guide of this journey is the Crow Woman, a creature who observes far more than she speaks, moving from encounter to encounter through an entire territory inhabited by flamingos who build empires, vultures who patiently await the right moment, horses who no longer know whether they are fleeing or pursuing, and chickens who never ask permission to exist. Each creature carries within it a trait we recognize, even when we would rather look away.
Behind every page runs a thread that crosses the entire book without ever being openly declared: time, and the infinite ways in which we can choose to inhabit it, endure it, or simply ignore it.Bestiarium It emerges from the encounter between two techniques separated by time: the cianotipia, among the oldest photographic processes ever invented, and the tradition of the medieval bestiary, in which every animal concealed a moral lesson. The result is an object that can be leafed through like a gallery of portraits, or read as a complete novel, with its own plot and an ending that overturns the meaning of everything that came before. A gothic, dreamlike book that never fully explains itself — because, as the Keeper who collected it reminds us, not everything needs an answer to be true.
